The Story of Children of Israel
The story of the Children of Israel begins in
Mesopotamia. To be exact is Ur. (According to some archaeologists) .Prophet
Ibrahim (Abraham) –peace be upon him was a great prophet of Allah. He was born
to parents who were idolaters. By race, he was from Ur of the Chaldees. Ur
Kasadin, is a city mentioned in the Hebrew bible as the birthplace of Prophet
Ibrahim. I wondered how they knew the exact birthplace of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
There are two Urs:
·
Ur-in Mesopotamia(Iraq)
·
Urfa(Turkey)
The Ebla tablet mentions “Ur in Haran”. Urfa is also known as Sanliurfa. Also, it is believed that the place Prophet
Ibrahim (AS) was placed in the fire has also been identified.
The Quran mentions Prophet Ibrahim (AS) trying to
convince his father to accept the Almighty Allah but his father refused to
leave the religion of his forefathers. The city is believed to be 12,000 years.
The SaniliUrfa castle was the place where Prophet Ibrahim (AS) was thrown into
the fire.
Ibrahim (AS) accepted the truth and found the Almighty
Allah. This is another long chapter.
He marries fist Sarah (AS) and later Bibi Hajira(). The
reason is that no son was being born to his wife Sarah ().
One point is that he was neither Arab, Jew nor Christian.
The word Jew is like a twin one: Religion and Race. Ibrahim (AS) came about
4500 years ago. At that time there was no Judaism or Christianity.
By race, he was a Chaldean, but by religion, he
accepted true religion and was a monotheist.
“It is Allah Who knows and ye who
know not! Ibrahim was not a Jew nor yet a Christian, but he was true in faith
and bowed his will to Allah's “
(Quran: Al Imran)
The Jewish name is Avraham with v pronounced as soft
b’. The discovery of Ebla Tablets which
originated 1500 years before the Torah or Taurat.
Some names of Prophets and angels were found in the
tablet as:

The name in bold letters was found on this old tablet.
It is a fact Quran has told the pronunciation of the names 1400 years ago.
See pg. 9 of the National Geographic (1978).
We have the pdf. Mail us. It is an interesting edition
of the Ebla tablets. Ebla is situated near Syria.
Ibrahim (AS) later on had a son called Ishmael (AS)
from his wife Bibi Hajira. He was also a Prophet. His second son came from his
first wife called Ishaq(AS). He was a prophet according to all three Abrahamic
faiths: Islam, Christianity, and Judaism.
Ishaq(AS) had two sons called Yakub(AS) or Jacob and
Esau.
Yakub(Jacob) is mentioned in the Quran. He is mentioned in the Quran.
Quran
Say: “We
believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and to Abraham, Ishmael,
Isaac, Jacob, and the descendants (of Jacob) and in what was given to Moses and
Jesus and in what the other Prophets received from their Lord. We make no
distinction between any of them, and we are those who submit to Allah.”
The Children Of Israel were called Bani Israel in
Arabic. To note Arabic, Hebrew, and Aramaic are all Semitic languages. Latin is not a Semitic language.
A lot but Torah mentions 48 prophets. Only one prophet
came from the lineage of Ishmael (As). That was the last prophet for all of
humanity and the world –Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was a descendant of Prophet Ismail(As).
Prophet Ishmail (As) was not the father of the Arabs.
The Arabs are divided into three categories:
·
Al Arab Al Baida- The Persihed Arabs: ad’,
Thamud’,
·
Al Arab al Ar’iba-The Pure Arabs. –Ancestor
Qahtan
·
al Arab al Musta’rabah-The Arabised
Arabs.-Ancestor Adnan.
The Prophet Ishmael (AS) belonged to the third category
that is they became Arabized. His mother was an Arab from Egypt.
Prophet Yakub(AS) was also known as Israel. His children
was known as Bani Israil’’(Arabic –meaning Children of Israel).
The Quran speaks numerous times about the Children Of Israel:
O children of Israel, call to mind My favor
which I bestowed on you and that I made you excel the nations.
The Quran: 2:211
And certainly Allah made a covenant with
the children of Israel, and We raised up among them twelve chieftains; and
Allah said: Surely I am with you; if you keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate
and believe in My apostles and asslst them and offer to Allah a goodly gift, I
will most certainly cover your evil deeds, and I will most certainly cause you
to enter into gardens beneath which rivers flow, but whoever disbelieves from
among you after that, he indeed shall lose the right way.
The Children of Israel are of twelve tribes Amongst the
12 tribes one was a Prophet: Yusuf (AS) or Joseph. He and his closest brother Ben Yamin (in
Arabic) and its anglicized version is Benjamin. I think in Hebrew is called Ben
Yamin also.
I thought they were of the same mother and rest 10 were of different mothers.
Yusuf (AS) was envied and placed in the well by his
other 10 brothers. (Excluding Ben Yamin
from the plot). His brothers were jealous
and wanted to kill him but one brother stopped and advised them to drop into a
well in the desert. It is a long story.
The
Jealousy of the brothers of Yusuf (Joseph)
Why the Jealousy?
The Quran says:
[Of these stories mention] when Joseph said
to his father, “O
my father, indeed I have seen [in a dream] eleven stars and the sun and the moon;
I saw them prostrating to me.”
Quran-12:4
This dream was shown to Yusuf(AS) and he was
specifically told by his father Yaqub(AS) not tell of this dream to his
brothers .
He said, “O my son, do not relate your
vision to your brothers or they will contrive against you a plan. Indeed Satan,
to man, is a manifest enemy.
Quran-12:5
For
this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a
soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as
though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept
alive all men; and certainly Our apostles came to them with clear arguments,
but
even after that many of them certainly act extravagantly in the land.
(Quran-5:32)
We are not going to the story of Yusf(AS) since it is a
long one and beautiful one. The point is
this the jealousy amongst themselves then for outsiders to Jewish faith one can
imagine, especially Muslims. It is like 80% of Children of Israel thought of
getting rid of Yusuf(AS) as he was favored. Nothing to do with religion but jealousy.
This Jealousy did not begin there but in the garden or Jannat’. The devil or
Shaitan’(aka Satan) was the 1st creation to be jealous and have
great pride.
The fact is Jews and Arabs are cousins. The Jews
thought that Arabs were inferior since they had a different mother.(Hagar).
The Children of Israel were in captivity for many years
in Egypt after death of Prophet Yusuf (AS). Then after hundreds of years they
were sent a Prophet by name of Musa (Moses). He is called Kalimullah’’ by the
Muslims. The one who spoke with Almighty.
The Red Sea was parted since the Pharaoh was after them
with his army. The Children Of Israel were given many favors.
How
they repaid the favors of Almighty
·
The Children of Israel built an idol and started
worshipping. This was totally against the Almighty.
·
They wandered in the desert for forty years
for disobedience.
·
Slaying Of Prophets. (According to the
Quran)
·
Demanding of Prophet Musa(AS) that the Children
of Israel will not believe in Almighty until they see Him with their own eyes.
“Indeed, We took the covenant from the Children of Israel and sent them
messengers. Whenever there came to them a messenger with what their souls did
not desire, a group [of the prophets] they denied, and another group they
killed.”
“And
[recall] when you said, ‘O Musa, we will never believe you until we see Allah
outright’; so the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on
[Holy Quran-2:55]
The
Covenant of Israel
According to Islam, the Children of Israel did have a covenant
but they broke it due to their mischief.
And
[recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon
them], ‘Do not worship except Allah, and to parents do good and to relatives,
orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer
and give zakah.’ Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were
refusing. And [recall] when We took your covenant, saying, ‘Do not shed each
other’s blood or evict one another from your homes.’ Then you acknowledged
[this] while you were witnessing.” [02:83-84]
Holy Quran- 2:83-84
Having said this ,some points:
- Judaism is closest to Islam in beliefs and traditions.
- There many arears in common.
- Before 1948 there was no wars between Jewish and Muslims since after Prophet's era.
- There good Jews too who see light of Islam.
