Ertrugrul Ghazi-The Muslim Turkish hero who founded Turkey-part 5

                              Ertrugrul Ghazi

Note: read part 4 before reading this post

Ertrugrul Ghazi led a revolution in people trying to find out about Turkish Muslim History. So how did people arrive here? Actually, most people in the Muslim world did not know about Turkish history since much of it was not documented in English. This history might have been purposely kept away.
Original land of Turkish people
They originally came from Altai, Mountains in Mongolia. A beautiful natural scene with mountains and springs.

Who is Ertrugrul Ghazi?
He was 13 century Bey who died in 1281 CE in Anatolia.  Despite many of his great achievements, he is better known as father of Osman I who founded the Osmani Caliphate or Ottoman Empire. Not much is known about him in conventional history.
Lineage
His lineage is from Oghuz Khan who was a descendant of Prophet Nuh(Peace be upon him)’ son Yafith. Traditionally Ertrugrul father is believed to be Suleyman Shah.
Movie
The film series which shows the complete life story of Ertrugrul Ghazi is Dirlis Ertrugrul..

f

Family
The Ertrugrul family was seen as a sheep herding family or a shepherd. The question is how Ertrugrul paved the way to establish an Empire that lasted 600 years. To do that research is necessary, he belonged to the Kayi tribe. The Kayi tribe originated from Oghuz Khan. Oghuz Khan had 6 sons and 24 grandchildren. One of the grandchildren was called Kayi. These are all traditional and oral records. He being a Turk had Huns as ancestors. The traditional legend on the origins of Turks is from the Ashina Clan and a wolf origin. Though the TV series is not wholly based on history as it is a mix of history and fiction.
The Oghuz Turks
The Oghuz Turks were nomads from Eurasian steppe and Kayi was one of the tribes.
Siblings:
·         Gundogdu Bey
·         Sungurtekin Bey
·         Dundar Bey(younger)

His older siblings did not support him in going West and history (Oral or conventional) does not remember them.
Dundar Bey loved his brother with respect and awe so accompanied him. With that he loved his family like his brother Ertrugrul. The thing he was weak and indecisive and that might because of getting injured badly as a youngster (according to TV).

Wife of Ertrugrul
Halime Hatun was wife of Ertrugrul and she is said to have a royal lineage. In TV series it is shown, she is a Seljuk Princess and a grave is found in Sogut, Turkey with same name. There is must be some reason a shepherd goes to pave away for an Empire.
A disclaimer
History in east differs since it relies much on Traditional values and oral statements having not documented proof. Even 70 years ago, In Indian subcontinent people donated lands to other people without documentation and their descendants honored the action. These events were not documented and can be said as false’ or did not happen according to western historians. This is a difference between East and West.

·         Artuk Bey- He actually is a character who really lived two hundred years before Ertrugrul. Mehmet Bozdag places him in TV series as companion to Ertrugrul.  An intellectual person, a statesman and a doctor. In history he was commander of the Seljuk Empire in 11th Century. His father was Seljuk governor Of Jerusalem. He has a much greater role in history than is shown in TV. Artuk Bey was one of the commanders of Seljuk Army in Battle of Manzikert. He was unjustly blamed by Malik Shah I and joined Tutush and helped in defeating Suleyman bin Kutalmish of Sultanate of Rum.His tomb is in Jerusalem.

Whether he met Ertrugrul is not certain but they lived in similar time.

Emir Al-Aziz of Aleppo
He was the grandson of Salahuddin Ayubbi, liberator of Jerusalem. Shihab ad-Din Tughril(r) was appointed as guardian of Al Aziz since his father had died at age 3.
